I’ve been mentally preparing for the announcement since my last post, but the news broke early this morning: Ironman Lake Tahoe was cancelled 10 minutes before the swim start due to hazardous air conditions from the King Fire.
Thanks to all of our readers for your support over this training cycle; rest assured, there will be many more!

I know we haven’t met, but I thought of you the moment I heard the news on Mike Reilly’s Facebook this morning. I can imagine how hard it is to not be able to compete, but I’m excited to hear that you are gearing up for the next one. All the best to you!
I woke up this morning and Dan said guess what? I said OH NO LT was cancelled he said how did you know…I said what else would it be?!!!! 😦
I am so sorry!!! I can’t even imagine!!! YOU have trained so hard!! I can’t believe they waited until 10 minutes before the swim to cancel it! WTF??!!
Such a bummer… 😦
That’s really too bad. Just some unfortunate luck. But now I guess it’s just time to find a new adventure.
That sucks man.
So sorry! What a disappointment.
I just saw this on the news and immediately thought of you. So sorry to hear this. Beyond bummed for you.
That bites so hard! What a bummer that the race organizers waited until the very last minute to actually announce that decision – I’m sure that the emotional roller coaster was a hugely unpleasant ride. The smoke situation is probably pretty serious up there, my friend’s mom said she was wearing a mask just to walk her dog around Carnelian Bay. Best wishes y’all, I hope that you still can salvage a vacation. Got any other events in your sights this fall, or is it too soon to start thinking about that?
Ohh no!! So sorry to hear!! You have a great attitude!! I hope you guys have a fabulous Monday!! XOXO!!
Feel gutted and empty for you. What race alternatives are being offered ?
That’s the worst 😦
So sorry! That must have been such a bummer finding out 10 min before the start. But better to be safe! P.S. I saw you on the news 😀
I’m just getting relatively caught up on my blogs and ouch!!! I feel terrible for all the time it took and to get pulled out from under you. Will remember the next time I want to complain…..
