Jesse had been scheming earlier this week, asking me if I wanted to run a race in an undisclosed location during the first weekend in October. He gave me few hints but told me I hadn’t been there before; once I was rejected from the Nike Women’s Half Marathon raffle, I decided to pester him for details.
Jesse and I are going to Park City, Utah, for Utah’s inaugural North Face Endurance Challenge! I’m so excited – I’ve never been to Utah (or any of the Rocky Mountain states, for that matter) and can’t wait to run this half marathon on October 5th in gorgeous Park City. Although the 7,000-foot elevation looks a little daunting for breathing purposes, I’m so excited to go on a mini race vacation (and not have to take any time off of work)!
As you know, we’re big fans of the North Face Endurance Challenge Championship course in the Marin Headlands. We’re excited to see how Park City’s course stacks up!
Yay, I am happy you are going to get to do this! Utah is the perfect place for a destination trail race
I agree! 🙂
Agreed!!! 🙂
Woot woot! Utah is my home state! Park City is GORGEOUS! And destination races are always so much fun! You’re going to have a blast!
Yes!!! So excited and happy to hear you’re a fan!
I look forward to reading about your Utah experience.
Thanks!!
Ohhhh can’t wait for the recap!!! Destination races are always my favorite. And screw you Nike!
Seriously! Suck it, nike! 🙂
Awesome. We did the Endurance Challenge in upstate NY. It was tough. I came back with a thorn in my thumb that took days to get out, a bloody knee, and a badly sprained ankle. I would do it all over again!
I want to do that one too! Bear mountain, right? Jesse’s from ny. Sounds like you had some serious battle wounds!
Yeah Bear Mountain. We would both do it again in a heartbeat. Battle wounds and all 🙂
The elevaion is not that bad in Park City but you might consider going a little early to acclimate. I don’t notice it skiing, a little with cycling, but running at altitude is a bit of a challenge if you come right off the plane or car to do it. Good luck.
That’s a really good tip. As a sea level dweller, it may be a little bit of an adjustment.
You’re going to love it! I did a Ragnar Relay that ended in Park City more than a few years ago. It’s gorgeous there!!
I’m so excited and I really want to do a Ragnar!
Yay, congrats! I’ve only been to Park City once, but I loved it!
Good to hear!!
